Christian Carey (b. 1973) is a composer, performer, writer, and musicologist specializing in music theory, Post-1945, and American music. He is an Associate Professor of Music at Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, New Jersey, and serves on the Board of Directors of League of Composers/ISCM. He received a Ph.D. in Music from Rutgers University and degrees in Composition from Boston University and Voice Performance from the Juilliard School.

Publications: Perspectives of New Music, Intégral, Tempo, Musical America, Musicworks, Signal to Noise, and The Grove Dictionary of American Music and Musicians. His flute/piano duo “For Milton,” appeared on a CD commemorating Milton Babbitt that was released in 2012 by Perspectives of New Music/Open Space. Editions Delatour published his essay on Elliott Carter’s late concerti in Homage á Elliott Carter, a book published in 2013 devoted to Carter. He has also written extensively about classical, jazz, and popular music for various websites and magazines.
