At the Festival of Contemporary Music today, we also heard the premiere of Julian Anderson’s Second String Quartet. I am saddened to hear from his collaborator Michael Rother that Dieter Moebius has passed away at 71. An electronic music pioneer in the bands Cluster and Harmonia, he will be missed but his influence will remain palpable and formidable.
